Reliable Podiatry Sites
Doctors of podiatric medicine (D.P.M.) are independent practitioners who deal with problems of the foot and its governing structures. Podiatrists are licensed in all states to provide surgical and medical treatment of the feet, including corrective devices, drugs, and physical therapy. Most podiatrists have staff privileges at a hospital, and many belong to a medical group practice, health maintenance organization, or preferred provider organization. About 90% of podiatrists are general practitioners, and the rest specialize in such areas as geriatrics, pediatrics, dermatology, surgery, orthopedics, public health, and sports medicine. Some procedures done by podiatrists are also done by orthopedic surgeons.
